Yellowstone It’s the biggest television question of the year: When does Yellowstone season 5 return?
The answer has been evading us for months, and after a season 5 part 2 teaser trailer that Paramount dropped with the words “coming in summer” was hidden from the show’s official YouTube account, we began to lose hope. Plus, the reports claiming that Kevin Costner was leaving Yellowstone didn’t exactly thrill us, either!
So, is Kevin hanging up his cowboy hat? Is Matthew McConaughey picking it up? And, again, when does Yellowstone return?! We’ve got answers for you, so keep readin
Is there a part 2 of Yellowstone Season 5?
Yes, there will be a part 2. The midseason finale aired on January 1, leaving us with a lot of questions that will hopefully be answered in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2. Limited information has been released about what will happen in the second half of the season of Bring It On. Based on the mid-season finale, we know that Rip (Cole Hauser), Ryan, Teeter, Walker, and Jake are all moving to Texas with the herd.
There’s a good chance they’ll be in attendance at the 6666 Ranch, where we last saw Jimmy and his fiancée Emily. Paramount has confirmed that viewers can expect six more episodes after the extended break. Now, everyone is crackling their cowboy boots because of the length of that hiatus. As Paramount wrote in a recent rep post: “Patience is running thin.”
What is the release date of Season 5 of Yellowstone?
According to Paramount Network, Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 (aka, the final episode of Yellowstone) will officially premiere in November 2024. It was originally expected to return in 2023, so while the new date may seem far off, at least we finally know it’s on the horizon.
Fans can follow #YellowstoneTV to wait for more details, and we’ll update this story as more details are announced.
Will Kevin Costner return for Season 5 Part 2?
We learned in May that, sadly, Kevin Costner is leaving the series. His departure was primarily due to conflicts between Yellowstone’s filming schedule and his upcoming personal passion project, Horizon: An American Saga.

Taylor Sheridan confirmed the news himself in June, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m disappointed. It truncates the closure of his character. It doesn’t alter it, but it truncates it.”
When will Yellowstone end?
We learned in May that, sadly, Kevin Costner was leaving the series. His departure was primarily due to conflicts between Yellowstone’s filming plans and his upcoming personal passion project, Horizon: An American Saga.
Taylor Sheridan confirmed the news in June, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m disappointed.” This gives short shrift to his character’s closure. “It doesn’t change it, but it makes it smaller.”
What happened in season 5 part 1?
When we last saw the ranchers, John Dutton’s dynasty seemed ready to crumble beneath their feet. Part 1 was packed with twisted Dutton-style drama that had us hooked from the jump and ended with too many cliffhangers. Beth (Kelly Reilly) eventually forced her father John to see how unprofitable the ranch had become.
John tasked Kayce with running the ranch operations. Jaime (Wes Bentley) and John’s battle of wills reached a fever pitch, thanks to Jamie’s “friend” Sarah Atwood of Market Equities. Oh, and half the kids in the main bunkhouse go on an extended journey to save the pack!
It’s really a shame there isn’t more Taylor Sheridan content to consume while we wait for Season 5, Part 2 (sarcasm, folks). Fans can enjoy a host of Sheridan and Yellowstone spin-off shows, including 1883 and 1923.
